Cross-border smuggling cartel busted in Amritsar; Three held with 4.5Kg Heroin, one pistol

Chandigarh/Amritsar- Amidst the continued drive to make Punjab a protected and safe state as per instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted a cross-border narco smuggling cartel with the arrest of three drug smugglers concerned in heroin and unlawful arms trafficking, and recovered 4.5 kg heroin and one .30 bore pistol from their possession, mentioned DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav right here on Thursday.

These arrested have been recognized as Gurwinder Singh alias Gopi (23), a resident of village Shahwala in Ferozepur; Tilak alias Shibu (18), a local of Rajiv Gandhi Vihar, Jalandhar and presently residing at Mustafabad in Amritsar; and Daljit Singh alias Lala (20), a local of village Naushera Dhalla and presently residing at village Mustafabad in Amritsar.

DGP mentioned that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused have been in touch with a foreign-based handler by means of social media platforms and, on his instructions, they have been transporting and supplying consignments of heroin and unlawful arms throughout totally different places. Sharing operational particulars, Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar mentioned that accused Gurwinder Singh alias Gopi was apprehended with a 1.5 kg Heroin and one .30 bore Pistol and through interrogation, the accused disclosed the involvement of two extra associates, resulting in additional recoveries.
