Speaker writes DO letter to Amit Shah for including Chandigarh automatically in arms license jurisdiction for Punjab State residents

Chandigarh-Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan wrote a demi- official letter to Central Residence Minister Amit Shah and requested to incorporate Chandigarh in arms licence jurisdiction for Punjab State residents.

He highlighted the necessity for some amendments beneath the Arms Act. As per the present norms, Punjab residents should apply for separate endorsement or permission to hold licensed arms in Chandigarh, which creates pointless bureaucratic delays and inconvenience. When Punjab residents apply for an arms license, the jurisdiction is restricted to the state of Punjab solely.

Moreover he added that Chandigarh serves because the Capital of Punjab and is the executive hub for the State. Many residents of Punjab reside in Chandigarh and steadily journey to Chandigarh for official and private issues. It might be logical and sensible for Chandigarh to be mechanically included within the territorial jurisdiction when an arms license is issued to the residents of Punjab State.

He humbly requested to Amit Shah Minister for Residence Affairs to cross crucial instructions to the involved authorities for amending the related guidelines/ pointers.
