Officers recognized the accused as Kapil (single title), 27, from Palra in Badshahpur, who was working as a helper in MCG.

On Monday, a resident filed a criticism in opposition to Kapil alleging he demanded 50,000 as a bribe to make sure that MCG officers wouldn’t cease the development work at his home, officers mentioned.

After negotiations, the deal was settled at 40,000. Officers added that Kapil was arrested whereas accepting the bribe.

Pooja Singh, ACB public relations officer, mentioned the resident filed a criticism in opposition to the helper. An enquiry was launched and it was discovered prima facie true that he was attempting to extort cash from the complainant by threatening him of motion.

Following this, an FIR was registered in opposition to Kapil below Part 7 (public servant acquiring, accepting or trying to acquire bribes as a motive or reward to carry out public responsibility dishonestly) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Part 308(2) (extortion) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on the ACB police station in Gurugram on Tuesday resulting in his arrest.

A sub-divisional officer of the MCG mentioned that Kapil was a contractual worker employed via Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam. “He contract will likely be terminated quickly,” he added.
