To assist the armed forces improve their capabilities to assist the nation struggle Covid-19 problem, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday gave them emergency monetary powers to ascertain quarantine services and hospitals.
In an announcement, the Defence Ministry mentioned Singh “invoked particular provisions and granted Emergency Monetary Powers to the Armed Forces to empower them and pace up their efforts in tide over the present” second wave of the pandemic.
The powers, it mentioned, will assist the formation commanders “to ascertain and function quarantine services/hospitals and undertake procurement/restore of apparatus/gadgets/materials/shops, apart from provisioning of assorted providers and works required to help the continued effort in opposition to the pandemic”.
Vice Chiefs of the Military, Navy and Air Pressure, together with Chief of Built-in Defence Workers To The Chairman Chiefs Of Workers Committee (CISC) and Normal Officer Commanding-in-Chiefs and equivalents of all three providers have been given full powers, the ministry mentioned. The Corps Commanders and Space Commanders of the forces have been delegated powers upto Rs 50 lakh per case.
