The anti-graft probe company CBI on Saturday stated it has arrested a Sub-Inspector of Uttrakhand Police for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh and gathering the primary tranche of Rs 1 lakh in Chandigarh from an area taxi driver.
The arrested Sub-Inspector of Uttarakhand Police Hemant Khanduri is posted at Police Station Cantt, Dehradun.
“A case was registered on a criticism alleging that accused Khanduri was demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from the complainant for not taking motion towards him whose title had cropped up in a case of dishonest lodged at Police Station Cantt, Dehradun,” CBI spokesperson RC Joshi stated.
The spokesperson stated the CBI had laid a entice in Chandigarh whereby the Sub Inspector of the Uttarakhand Police “was caught purple handed whereas demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh as half cost”.
He stated, searches at two residential locations of the accused in Dehradun had been being performed and sure incrementing paperwork and different proof had been recovered. The arrested accused can be produced in an area court docket tomorrow, he added.
