Covid, cancer drugs smuggled from Gurugram to Iraq at 10 times the cost; 5 arrested

Gurugram has caught the eye of worldwide smugglers. These smugglers are procuring COVID-19 therapy medicine and smuggling them overseas at ten occasions the associated fee.

The Gurugram Drug Management division, together with the native police, busted a world drug cartel seizing medicine, together with narcotics and COVID-19 medicine—Remdesivir and Favipiravir— and money of roughly Rs 75 lakhs. 

4 Iraqi nationals and one Uzbek girl was arrested from Sector 57 and Sector 47.  

Whereas authorities are but to disclose any particulars, sources declare that these international nationals, with none legitimate passport and visas, would procure the COVID-19 medicine and anti-cancer medicine on MRP from Gurugram and ship it to Iraq.   

The drug Favipiravir, which is offered at Rs 250 a strip, is bought in Iraq for Rs 7,500.  

Equally, Remedesvir, which is offered at 5,400 a vile in Gurugram is reportedly being bought at one lakh a vile in Iraq.

The police are but to disclose the investigation particulars.
