Chandigarh/Amritsar-In a significant breakthrough amidst the continuing drive to make Punjab a drug-free state as per instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Amritsar Rural Police has busted a significant cross-border narco-terror community with the assist of Village Defence Committee (VDC) and recovered 42.9 KG heroin, 4 hand grenades and one Star-mark pistol together with 46 stay cartridges, mentioned Director Basic of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav right here on Thursday.
This operation is a direct consequence of actionable and credible intelligence generated via the VDCs—a flagship initiative of the Punjab Authorities geared toward institutionalising neighborhood participation in inner safety and anti-drug efforts.
DGP mentioned that preliminary investigation has revealed that the recovered narcotics, arms, and explosives have been dropped through drones from throughout the worldwide border, clearly indicating the involvement of an organised cross-border narco-terror community.The DGP mentioned that subsequent investigation has led to the detention of two individuals, each residents of Amritsar. Additional investigation is underway to hint absconding accused, confirm the chain of possession, and uncover the broader conspiracy.
Sharing operational particulars, DIG Border Vary Sandeep Goel mentioned that mentioned that appearing swiftly on the inputs obtained via the VDC community, police groups intercepted a motorbike in village Oothian.
On sensing police presence, the suspects deserted the bike together with the consignment and fled in the direction of adjoining agricultural fields, exploiting darkness and terrain, he mentioned, whereas including that police groups instantly launched a scientific search and space domination train within the surrounding fields leading to restoration of narcotics, arms and explosives consignment.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amritsar Rural Suhail Qasim Mir mentioned that an intensive investigation is underway to determine and apprehend the accused, hint ahead and backward linkages, and dismantle all the community.
On this regard, a case FIR No. 26 dated 29.01.2026 has been registered underneath sections 21 and 25 of the NDPS Act and sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act at Police Station Rajasansi in Amritsar Rural.
