Haryana Energy Minister Ranjit Singh on Sunday stated a effective of Rs 25.6 crore had been imposed on these indulging in energy thefts throughout the state.
The minister stated 482 groups of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) had been constituted to conduct raids. The groups checked 29,948 energy connections and reported 6,015 theft circumstances in the previous couple of days.
As many as 250 groups of the UHBVN checked 17,752 energy connections in zone-1 and zone-2, of which 2,660 circumstances of theft have been reported. A effective of Rs 10.92 crore for the theft of 6,177 kW had been imposed on the defaulters.
Equally, 232 DHBVN groups checked 12,196 energy connections in Delhi and Hisar zone, the place 3,355 circumstances of theft have been detected. A effective of Rs 14.69 crore had been imposed on the defaulters for the theft of seven,808 kW.
The Energy Minister stated raids have been performed in February. At the moment, the groups had checked 4,295 energy connections, of which 1,411 circumstances of theft have been reported. A effective of Rs 5.59 crore was imposed on the defaulters.
The minister stated such raids would proceed sooner or later to curtail energy theft.
