Delhi: DDMA bans gatherings for Christmas, New Year over Omicron threat

Amid the menace posed by the Omicron variant of Covid-19, the Delhi Catastrophe Administration Authority (DDMA) has said that no occasion or gathering to have a good time Christmas or New 12 months can be allowed within the metropolis.

DDMA stated that as per its order dated December 15, all social, political, sports activities, leisure, cultural and non secular occasions are prohibited and no gatherings will be held. “All District Magistrates and DCPs shall be certain that no cultural occasion/gatherings/congregations happen for celebrating Christmas or New 12 months in NCT of Delhi,” it said.

In its order, DDMA noticed that there have been rampant violation of Covid norms on a number of events and the mandatory restrictions will not be being adopted. It added, “Subsequently, all District Magistrates in addition to all District DCPs shall conduct surpriae checks/ raids of their respective areas and shall take strict penal motion in opposition to defaulters…”

It has additionally directed officers to strengthen the enforcement equipment and deploy “ample variety of enforcement groups on discipline for protecting utmost vigil at public locations…”
