The Delhi authorities has declared Chhath Puja, which falls on November 10, as a public vacation.
An order from the workplace of the Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, learn, “Chhat Puja is vital for the folks of NCT of Delhi. Accordingly, authorities of NCT of Delhi, has determined to declare tenth November, 2021, as a public vacation on account of Chhat Puja. Vital notification on this regard could also be issued.”
On October 29, the DDMA had allowed Chhath Puja celebrations at designated websites, besides on the banks of the Yamuna river. Earlier, DDMA had denied permission to rejoice the pageant in public, citing restrictions in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
After protests from the BJP and Congress, the federal government had written to the Centre looking for permission for public celebrations. When that didn’t yield any outcomes, a DDMA assembly was held to permit the festivities.
