Delhi launches citizen-driven ‘Project SANGAM’ to tackle traffic issues, improve area mobility

Delhi’s site visitors administration is getting a citizen-driven push with the launch of undertaking SANGAM (Synergistic Motion & Networked Governance for Space Mobility) by the Delhi Visitors Police, LG secretariat stated on Monday.

The undertaking was initiated on April 3 on the instructions of lieutenant governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu. It goals to carry residents, RWAs, market associations, and civic companies collectively to seek out sensible options for each day site visitors challenges, officers stated.

Joint boards of police, MCD, PWD and native stakeholders have performed 30 conferences involving over 6,000 residents throughout Karol Bagh, Saket, Chanakyapuri, Rajouri Backyard and Defence Colony, officers stated.

In Karol Bagh, residents known as for shifting e-rickshaw stands, eradicating barricades, regulating Friday markets, clearing encroachments and addressing security issues close to metro stations. Following this, authorities relocated stands and eliminated barricades.

In the meantime, in Dwarka and Rajouri Backyard, congestion at key junctions and parking points have been addressed by way of inter-agency coordination.

“The initiative seeks to ship citizen-centric, ground-up site visitors options by actively involving communities within the decision-making course of. By bringing collectively RWAs, MWAs, and civic companies on a standard platform, the undertaking facilitates real-time decision of points starting from unauthorised parking to pedestrian security,” Sandhu stated in a submit on X.

Officers stated the main target is on points resembling unauthorised parking, e-rickshaw congestion, wrong-side driving, encroachments, sign timing and pedestrian security.

Over 50 options have been recorded and are being tracked through a central digital repository.

Officers stated conferences have already led to motion on the bottom, together with hundreds of e-challans, towing, clamping drives and infrastructure fixes.
