A cleric has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor woman inside a mosque in Delhi, police stated Tuesday. An FIR has been registered in opposition to the accused, and a Delhi courtroom has despatched him to 14-day judicial custody.
“We registered an FIR after receiving a grievance and arrested the accused. Additional investigation is in progress and we purpose to file a chargesheet quickly for quick justice,” a senior police official stated.
He stated the woman has alleged in her grievance that the incident passed off when she went contained in the mosque to fetch water round 10 pm on Sunday. “She alleges she was stopped by the accused, who raped her. She knowledgeable her mother and father as soon as she returned dwelling, and so they approached native police,” he stated.
Police stated the woman has undergone a medical examination.
Police stated personnel needed to be deployed outdoors the mosque as agitated locals gathered outdoors following the alleged incident on Sunday. “Utilizing technical surveillance, police arrested the accused from Ghaziabad,” stated an officer.
