The Delhi Police registered an FIR towards a bunch of JNU college students who allegedly broke into the Central Library and manhandled safety guards on the premises.
Police mentioned a bunch of 35-40 college students gathered exterior the library that’s closed for college kids due to the pandemic. They protested in entrance of the gate and requested the guard to open the gates of the library however the guards refused to take action. The incident befell on Tuesday morning round 10.40 am.
Based on the FIR, guards known as Fast Response Workforce to disperse the scholars who have been protesting and attempting to interrupt into the library.
“College students manhandled safety personnel and began hitting the library gate with sticks. The glass part of the gate was broken… The safety personnel resisted the assault and didn’t permit the scholars to enter from the three entrance gates. They (college students) then discovered a small gate, broke the glass pane, and entered the library. The safety personnel eliminated the scholars from the library,” reads the FIR.
Police mentioned the scholars continued protesting and manhandled safety personnel. They violated Covid norms by protesting and likewise broken library gates.
A case underneath sections of Prevention of Injury to Public Property Act, DDMA Act, Epidemic Diseased Act, and IPC was registered towards unknown individuals at Vasant Kunj police station.
College students posted on Twitter and different social media concerning the incident saying the administration shut the library in the course of the pandemic. They demanded, “rapid reopening” of the central library for college kids.
