Delhi riots: Facebook granted extension to appear before Assembly panel

Fb India requested an extension of 14 days to look earlier than the Delhi Legislative Meeting’s Committee on Peace and Concord to “guarantee the provision of senior representatives with the requisite data” who’re “greatest positioned to supply the Committee with the info required”, the federal government mentioned Tuesday.

The proceedings have now been rescheduled to 12.30 pm on November 18. The committee is inspecting the “unprecedented communal disharmony and violence in Delhi in February 2020”.

“Contemplating the request and causes acknowledged therein, the Chairman and MLA Sh. Raghav Chadha has determined to grant the extension to Fb India to make out there the appropriate senior representatives,” the federal government mentioned.

The request was made by the Public Coverage Head of Fb India, communicated by an e mail dated October 29. The summons had been issued to them on October 27 to look earlier than the committee by November 2.

To this point, the committee has referred to as senior journalists, fact-checkers, digital rights activists and Fb workers to depose earlier than it. The proceedings are live-streamed.
