Indo-Pak war veteran passes away at 83

Lt Col Jai Singh (retd), who fought within the Indo-Pak wars of 1965 and 1971, handed away at Jhansi Cantonment. He was 83.

Born on January 12, 1939, in Dang Kalan of Bhiwani district, he was commissioned into the 2nd Lancers, (Gardener’s Horse) in 1964. He was within the elevating group of 41 Armoured Regiment in 1980 and was the primary Second-in-Command and the second Commandant of the Regiment from 1982 to 1984. He served for 27 years.

His son Lt Col Ajai Singh Berwal within the Armoured Corps stated his father breathed his final on September 30 in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. He was cremated with navy honours in Jhansi. He’s survived by his spouse, son and daughter.
