Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to his Mauritius counterpart Pravind Jugnauth to convey condolences on the dying of his father and veteran chief Anerood Jugnauth.
“I referred to as @MauritiusPM Pravind Jugnauth to convey heartfelt condolences on the unhappy demise of Sir Anerood Jugnauth. He will likely be remembered as one of many tallest leaders of the Indian Ocean Area and a principal architect of India’s particular friendship with Mauritius,” Modi tweeted.
Anerood Jugnauth, former prime minister, handed away on Thursday. In a tweet on that day, Modi had described Anerood Jugnauth, who was given India’s second highest civilian honour Padma Vibhushan, as a statesman who was the architect of recent Mauritius.
As a mark of respect, the federal government of India has introduced a day’s state mourning on Saturday all through the nation.
