Amritsar: In a serious crackdown in opposition to drug trafficking and unlawful weapons in Punjab, the Counter Intelligence unit in Amritsar has busted a big smuggling module and arrested two accused.
Police recovered 5.5 kg heroin, 4 pistols and 10 stay cartridges from the possession of the arrested smugglers. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused have been in touch with cross-border smugglers and have been allegedly working to provide consignments of weapons and ammunition despatched from Pakistan throughout Punjab.
In keeping with police officers, the community could have hyperlinks with worldwide smuggling syndicates. A case has been registered at SSOC Police Station, Amritsar, and additional investigations are underway to hint each ahead and backward hyperlinks of the module.
Police groups at the moment are working to determine and arrest different members linked to the interstate and cross-border smuggling community.
