Punjab, Chandigarh, among top 5 in Performance Grading Index 2019-20

Punjab, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Kerala have occupied the best grade (Grade A++) in Efficiency Grading Index (PGI) 2019-20.

The data comes after the Centre on Sunday authorized the discharge of the grading index for states and Union Territories (UTs) that catalyses transformational change within the area of college training.

The grading index helps the states and UTs to pinpoint the gaps and accordingly prioritise areas for intervention to make sure that the varsity training system is powerful at each degree.

Union Schooling Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ made the approval with a set of 70 parameters.

The PGI for states and the UTs was first printed in 2019 with the reference 12 months 2017-18. The PGI 2019-20 is the third publication on this sequence.

The PGI train envisages that the index would propel states and UTs in the direction of enterprise multi-pronged interventions that may carry concerning the much-desired optimum training outcomes.

Many of the states and UTs have improved their grade in PGI 2019-20 in comparison with the sooner years.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Puducherry, Punjab and Tamil Nadu have improved general PGI rating by 10 per cent that’s 100 or extra factors.

“Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Punjab have proven enchancment by 10 per cent (eight factors) or extra within the PGI area: Entry,” mentioned an announcement issued by the Ministry of Schooling.

“As many as 13 states and UTs have proven enchancment by 10 per cent (15 factors) or extra within the PGI area: Infrastructure and Services. Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Odisha have proven enchancment by 20 per cent or extra.”

The Ministry mentioned that Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Odisha have proven greater than “10 per cent enchancment within the PGI area: Fairness.” “Nineteen states and UTs have proven enchancment by 10 per cent (36 factors) or extra within the PGI area: Governance Course of. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Punjab, Rajasthan and West Bengal have proven enchancment by at the very least 20 per cent (72 factors or extra).” — IANS
