Punjab State Power Corp clears outstanding arrears of electricity bills worth Rs 77.4 crore

Chandigarh, October 22

On the directives of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Punjab State Energy Company Ltd (PSPCL) has until date cleared the excellent arrears of electrical energy payments value Rs 77.37 crore of 96,911 home customers having load as much as two kilowatts.

A spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Workplace mentioned these customers are from 5 zones throughout the state — border zone (comprising suburban Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Metropolis Amritsar circles); central zone (East Ludhiana, West Ludhiana, Khanna, sub-urban Ludhiana); north zone (Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr); south zone (Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Ropar, Mohali); and west zone (Bathinda, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Muktsar).

The zones have as many as 15.85 lakh beneficiaries with a complete excellent legal responsibility of Rs 1,505 crore. Out of this, the excellent arrears value Rs 77.37 crore have been waived up to now.

Final month, the Channi-led Authorities had introduced to waive energy payments of these having electrical energy connection of as much as two kilowatt. PTI
