The Supreme Courtroom Friday appointed retired apex courtroom decide Justice Madan B Lokur as a one-man committee to take steps for stopping stubble burning in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh which is a supply of air pollution in Delhi-national capital area (NCR).
Whereas directing that Nationwide Cadet Corps (NCC), Nationwide Service Scheme and Bharat Scouts be deployed for helping the panel, a bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde rejected the objection of Solicitor Basic Tushar Mehta on the appointment of the committee saying the involved states have already been heard.
The apex courtroom directed the court-appointed Setting Air pollution Management Authority (EPCA) and chief secretaries of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh to help the Lokur panel to allow it in bodily surveillance of fields the place stubble is burnt.
The bench, additionally comprising Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian, directed the states involved to offer sufficient safety, secretarial infrastructure and transport to Lokur panel.
It mentioned the panel shall submit its report on stubble burning fortnightly to the apex courtroom.
Throughout his tenure as an apex courtroom decide, Justice Lokur had handled air pollution matter which included the side of stubble burning.
The bench was listening to a plea filed by one Aditya Dubey who has raised concern over air pollution precipitated on account of stubble burning.
