A number of folks had been injured after an Amtrak practice that runs between Seattle and Chicago derailed Saturday afternoon in north-central Montana, the practice company stated.
5 automobiles of the Empire Builder practice, which runs from Seattle to Chicago, derailed at four pm close to Joplin, a city of about 200, Amtrak spokesman Jason Abrams stated in an announcement.
The practice had about 147 passengers and 13 crew members on board, he stated Amtrak is working with the native authorities to move injured passengers and safely evacuate all different passengers, Abrams added.
An eyewitness informed KSEN radio that at the least 4 automobiles had been tipped over and on the monitor.
Emergency responders are on the scene.
Stories and footage from passengers present automobiles tipped over off the tracks. It was a sunny fall day with dozens of individuals standing or sitting alongside the monitor, some with baggage.
